Buying Guide & Pre-Sales Questions

Does the GD2 work on any TV?
Yes, the box works on any TV, monitor, or projector that has a free HDMI port. The age of the device does not matter. To power it, simply plug the included adapter into a standard wall outlet.
Is a Google account mandatory?
Yes. As with any Android/Google TV device, a free Google account is absolutely necessary for the initial setup, basic use of the menu interface, and downloading apps from the Google Play Store.
Which apps can I use on the box?
Thanks to the official Google certification, you have access to the Google Play Store for TV devices. This includes all major providers like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Apple TV+, DAZN, and many more.

Note: The app selection is not identical to that of a smartphone. Only apps specifically adapted and approved by developers for TV remote control operation (without a touchscreen) are available.
Are there monthly costs for using it?
No. There are no ongoing costs for using the GD2 box and the operating system. You only pay the normal subscription fees for the streaming services you personally want to use (such as Netflix or Disney+), provided you have a paid account there.
Can I connect my own hard drives and USB sticks?
Yes, that is one of the great advantages of the box. The GD2 has two USB 2.0 ports. You can easily connect USB hard drives, USB sticks, or even accessories like wireless keyboards or mice.

Troubleshooting & Knowledge Base

Help with settings and technical problems. Solutions directly from our technicians.

Prime Video shows an HDMI connection error. Is the box defective?
No, the GD2 is not defective. This error occurs if the digital copy protection (HDCP) between the TV and the box is not negotiated quickly enough upon power-up (a so-called handshake problem). The Prime Video app reacts much more sensitively to this than other streaming providers.
How to fix the error:
  • Original cable: You must use the included HDMI cable. Older cables from your home often do not reliably support the necessary copy protection standard (HDCP 2.2).
  • Handshake Reset: Completely disconnect the TV and the GD2 from the power. Unplug the HDMI cable, plug it back in, and restart the devices.
Special tip for LG TVs: On LG devices, an internal picture setting often blocks the Prime app. Go to the settings of your LG TV and temporarily turn off the HDMI Deep Color (or "Ultra HD Deep Colour") function for the HDMI input used.
Picture looks overexposed (bright faces) or pixelated background
When bright areas like faces "burn out" unnaturally white or gradients in the background look like a pixel mash, the TV is misinterpreting the GD2's HDR signal or color space at that moment.
The solution in the GD2 menu:
  1. Go to Settings (gear icon) Display & Sound Resolution.
  2. Change the HDR setting from "Always HDR" to "Adaptive" or completely to "SDR" (Off) as a test.
  3. In the same menu, change the Color Space from "Auto" to "RGB" or "YCbCr 4:2:0".
  4. Restart the box afterwards.
Picture freezes in Live TV apps, but audio continues
This phenomenon often occurs with European Live TV or IPTV apps (like Cosmote or Eon TV). These apps send their video signal fixed at 50Hz. If the GD2 system is set to the standard 60Hz, the video decoder falls out of sync after a while.
How to force the system to 50Hz:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound Resolution.
  2. Disable the auto-switch function.
  3. Manually select 4K 50Hz (or 1080p 50Hz). The Live TV apps will run flawlessly and stably again afterwards.
Why does the picture stutter during movies or show brief double contours?
If the picture briefly "skips" during camera pans in movies (judder), the frame rate of the movie (usually 24 frames per second) does not match the general system setting of the GD2 box.
How to activate automatic matching:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound Resolution (or Playback).
  2. Activate the option Match Content Frame Rate.
  3. Set it to Always. The box will now automatically force the TV to the absolutely judder-free and correct refresh rate for the duration of the movie.
The GD2 keeps restarting during boot (Boot loop)
If the box stops at the start screen and reboots in an endless loop, this almost always points to an insufficient power supply after major system updates.
The simple solution:
Please explicitly use the included original power adapter of the GD2. If the box is tested on a third-party power supply, a USB hub, or directly connected to the TV's USB port, the processor does not receive the required power (voltage) for the boot process. With the original power adapter plugged into the wall outlet, the system will boot up stably immediately.
The remote control no longer responds or reports constant updates
The GD2 remote control works via Bluetooth. There are two common phenomena here that can be easily fixed:
  • No reaction: If it stops responding, it has simply lost its wireless pairing with the box. Press and hold the Back button (left arrow) and the Home button (house symbol) simultaneously on the remote for about 5 to 10 seconds to reconnect it.
  • Constant update messages: If the screen constantly shows that the remote control is updating, this is a sign of slight voltage fluctuations in the batteries. The remote briefly loses connection and checks the update status when reconnecting. Replace the batteries with new branded batteries to solve the problem immediately.
The box (and the TV) turns on by itself
If the GD2 seemingly wakes up from standby for no reason, this is due to the "HDMI-CEC" control. The TV accidentally sends a wake-up signal to the box, or the box wakes the TV when it runs an automatic app update in the background.
How to disable automatic wake-up:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound HDMI-CEC.
  2. Turn off the CEC Switch or Auto Wake options there. The devices will now remain dark until you consciously turn them on with the remote.
Why are certain apps like NordVPN already pre-installed?
You have absolutely nothing to worry about: You are guaranteed to receive brand new, factory-sealed goods. The fact that certain apps like NordVPN, YouTube, or Netflix are already on the system is technically completely normal and not an indication of a previously used device. These are official partner apps that were permanently integrated into the current software by the operating system manufacturer (Google TV) at the factory. The device is in its absolute original state.
Can Sky Q and Sky Go be used on the GD2?
No, the Sky Q and Sky Go apps are not supported on the GD2. Sky blocks usage on almost all standard Android TV boxes. All other known streaming services (such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, or DAZN) work entirely without restrictions on the GD2, of course.
How do I reset the GD2 to factory settings?
If the box shows unexpected errors after a major system update, the menu reacts extremely slowly, or you want to completely set up the device from scratch, a Hard Reset often helps to clear out old cache files.
How to perform the factory reset:
  1. Navigate to Settings (gear icon).
  2. Select System About.
  3. Click on Factory reset and confirm the process.
The GD2 will now delete all data, restart after a few minutes, and greet you again with the fresh initial setup screen.
