Multimedia chipset
The R82 is equipped with a powerful quad-core Cortex-A55 processor in conjunction with a Mali-G57 GPU (graphics unit). Unlike most other Android TV boxes, the chipset has been optimized specifically for media playback and supports the latest standards like HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Compared to its predecessor, the R81, performance is around 20% higher. An LED display is built into the front of the high-quality, fanless aluminum housing.

Experience HDR (High Dynamic Range) on a new level: the Orbsmart R82 supports the latest HDR10+ standard (incl. BT.2020) in addition to HDR10. This allows not only brightness up to 4,000 nit, but also dynamic processing of metadata per individual image. Experience movies with a significantly expanded color and contrast range and more detail in both bright and dark scenes.

Android
The full Android 11 version is used as the operating system, which is particularly characterized by its stability and speed. The operation is kept simple and intuitive. Even cutting-edge TVs can’t keep up with such extensive functionalities. The interface has been specially optimized for use on a TV. Note: some apps are only compatible to a limited extent or not at all.
Connection options
In addition to Bluetooth 5.2 & Wi-Fi 6 / WLAN-AX (2.4/5GHz MIMO), all important connections are available: 1x USB 3.0 + 2x USB 2.0 connection, 1x HDMI 2.1, 1x SPDIF (optical), 1x RS232, AV-Out connection and 1x Gigabit LAN connection. The external SATA connection also enables the connection of SATA hard disks (up to 16TB).
Smart remote control
In addition to the normal functions, the remote control included in the scope of delivery also offers the possibility to teach buttons from other infrared remote controls. The upper four keys can be assigned as desired (e.g. with keys from the TV or AV receiver). Thanks to the integrated LED backlight (on both sides), the remote control can also be used perfectly in the dark.

The R82 is extremely versatile. It is also perfect as a digital signage player (e.g. display system for advertising). The following PRO features are on board ex works:

FAQ
What is included in the scope of delivery?
The scope of delivery includes an HDMI cable, EU power supply, external SATA cable and a German manual.
How does the R82 differ from its predecessor, the R81?
The pre-installed operating system is Android 11 instead of Android 9, the built-in chipset is more powerful (approx. 20%), RAM & internal memory are higher (4GB instead of 2GB RAM & 32GB instead of 16GB internal memory) and the standards are higher (HDMI 2.1 instead of 2.0, WIFI 6 instead of 5, Bluetooth 5.2 instead of 4.2). The connections are slightly modified.
Is the device rooted?
No, the device is not rooted from the factory.
Is Chromecast integrated?
No. As an alternative, we recommend the CetusPlay or Web Video Cast apps or the Orbsmart G1, for example.
Can the Android TV box also be controlled via smartphone?
Yes, we recommend the app CetusPlay, for example.
Can the WLAN antennas be unscrewed?
No, that is not possible. However, the antennas can be folded in completely.
Is KODI fully supported?
The official version is not adapted to the chipset. We recommend either the preinstalled Home Theater or alternatively this KODI fork “ZDMC” adapted to the hardware as media center. This can be downloaded in the support area.

Can a CD/DVD/BD drive be connected?
Yes, that is possible. However, only non-copy-protected content can be played.
Does the device start automatically when power is applied?
Yes, this can be activated accordingly.
Can the device be used as a digital signage player?
Yes, the Orbsmart R82 is ideal as a digital signage player. Features such as autostart (immediate booting when power is applied) and automatic playback of videos after booting are supported. A configuration (incl. playlists, loop etc.) can be made in the settings.
