Buying Guide & Pre-Sales Questions

What do I need for setup and operation?
You only need a TV, monitor, or projector with a free HDMI port, an active WiFi internet connection, and a free Google account to activate the system.
Is a Google account mandatory?
Yes. As with any Android TV device, a free Google account is absolutely necessary for the initial setup, basic use of the menu interface, and downloading apps from the Google Play Store. The stick cannot be used without this account.
Which apps can I use?
Thanks to the official certification, you have access to the Google Play Store for TV devices. This includes all major providers like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Apple TV+, DAZN, and many more.

Note: The app selection is not identical to that of a smartphone. Only apps specifically adapted and approved by developers for TV remote control operation (without a touchscreen) are available.
Are there monthly costs or subscriptions?
No. There are no monthly fees for using the GD1 stick and its operating system. You only pay for the subscriptions of the streaming services you wish to use (such as Netflix or Prime Video), provided you have a paid account with them.
Does the stick need its own power supply?
Not necessarily. You can often power the stick by connecting the included USB cable directly to a free USB port on your TV. However, if the TV port does not provide enough power (which can manifest as irregular reboots), we strongly recommend connecting the cable to a wall outlet using a standard USB power adapter (e.g., from a smartphone, min. 5V/2A).
Can Sky Q and Sky Go be used?
No, the Sky Q and Sky Go apps are not supported on the GD1. Sky strictly blocks usage on almost all standard Android TV boxes and usually only allows them on their own hardware.

Troubleshooting & Knowledge Base

Help with settings and technical problems. Solutions directly from our technicians.

The GD1 keeps restarting during boot (Boot loop)
If the stick stops at the start screen and reboots in an endless loop, this is almost always due to insufficient power supply from the TV. The USB ports on many TVs only provide 0.5 amps – which is not enough for the startup process of the powerful processor in the GD1.
The simple solution:
Please do not connect the GD1's USB power cable to the TV, but instead use a standard USB power adapter (e.g., from a smartphone) for the wall outlet. The adapter should deliver at least 5V / 2A (10 watts). The stick will then boot up stably immediately.
The WiFi connection is very slow or drops
Since the GD1 is plugged directly into the HDMI port on the back of the TV, the TV's large metal casing can physically shield the WiFi signal from the router. This leads to stuttering, buffering, or connection drops.
How to improve WiFi reception:
Use a short HDMI extension (a short, flexible HDMI cable) to move the stick a few inches away from the TV casing. Often it's enough for the stick to peek out minimally from the side or bottom of the TV to drastically improve WiFi speed.
The remote control no longer responds after changing batteries
Because the GD1 often operates hidden behind the TV, the remote uses Bluetooth instead of a line-of-sight (infrared) connection. If it stops responding, it has simply lost its wireless pairing with the stick.
How to re-pair the remote:
  1. Briefly disconnect the GD1 from the power and plug it back in.
  2. Wait until the start screen appears on the TV.
  3. Press and hold the Back button (left arrow) and the Home button (house symbol) simultaneously on the remote for about 5 to 10 seconds.
  4. The remote will now automatically reconnect to the stick.
Prime Video shows an HDMI connection error
This error occurs if the digital copy protection (HDCP) between the TV and the GD1 is not negotiated quickly enough upon power-up. The Prime Video app reacts much more sensitively to this than other streaming providers.
How to fix the error:
  • Handshake Reset: Completely disconnect the TV and the GD1 from the power. Unplug the stick from the HDMI port, plug it back in, and restart everything.
Special tip for LG TVs: On LG devices, an internal picture setting often blocks the Prime app. Go to the settings of your LG TV and temporarily turn off the HDMI Deep Color (or "Ultra HD Deep Colour") function for this specific HDMI input.
Picture looks overexposed (bright faces) or pixelated background
When bright areas like faces "burn out" to white or gradients in the background look like a pixel mash, the TV is misinterpreting the GD1's HDR signal or color space at that moment.
The solution in the GD1 system menu:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound Resolution.
  2. Change the HDR setting from "Always HDR" to "Adaptive" or completely to "SDR" (Off) as a test.
  3. In the same menu, change the Color Space from "Auto" to "RGB" or "YCbCr 4:2:0".
  4. Restart the stick afterwards.
Picture freezes in Live TV apps, but audio continues
This phenomenon often occurs with European Live TV or IPTV apps (like Cosmote or Eon TV). These apps send their video signal fixed at 50Hz. If the GD1 system is set to the standard 60Hz, the video decoder falls out of sync.
How to force the system to 50Hz:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound Resolution.
  2. Disable the auto-switch function.
  3. Manually select 4K 50Hz (or 1080p 50Hz). The Live TV apps will run absolutely smoothly again afterwards.
Picture stutters during movies (Judder / double contours)
If the picture briefly "skips" during camera pans in movies (judder), the frame rate of the movie (24 frames per second) does not match the general setting of the GD1.
How to activate automatic matching:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound Resolution (or Playback).
  2. Activate the option Match Content Frame Rate.
  3. Set it to Always. The stick will now automatically force the TV to the correct refresh rate for movies.
The TV turns on by itself at night
If the TV seemingly wakes up from standby for no reason, this is due to the "HDMI-CEC" control. The TV accidentally sends a wake-up signal via the HDMI port to the GD1 (or vice versa, if the stick runs an app update in the background).
How to disable automatic wake-up:
  1. Go to Settings Display & Sound HDMI-CEC.
  2. Turn off the CEC Switch or Auto Wake options there. The devices will now remain dark until you consciously turn them on with the remote.
Why are apps like NordVPN already pre-installed?
You have absolutely nothing to worry about: You are guaranteed to receive brand new, factory-sealed goods. The fact that certain apps like NordVPN, YouTube, or Netflix are already on the system is technically completely normal and not an indication of a previous owner.
These are official partner apps that were permanently integrated into the current firmware by the operating system manufacturer (Android TV) at the factory. The device is in its absolute original state.
How do I reset the GD1 to factory settings?
If the stick reacts extremely slowly after a major Android update, apps crash unexpectedly, or you want to completely set up the device from scratch, a factory reset (Hard Reset) often helps. This deletes all faulty files in the cache.
How to perform the factory reset:
  1. Navigate to Settings (gear icon).
  2. Select System About.
  3. Click on Factory reset and confirm the process.
The GD1 will now delete all data, restart after a few minutes, and greet you again with the initial setup screen.
